SUMMARY:World Marriage Day Mass
DESCRIPTION:Due to a change in the schedule\, the Diocese of Burlington will now be celebrating World Marriage Day 2025 on Sunday\, Feb. 16\, at the 10 a.m. Mass at Holy Cross in Colchester. Main Celebrant will be Bishop McDermott.\nIn Vermont\, those celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2025 (5\, 10\, 15\, 20… 50\, 51\, or more) are invited to this special Mass with their families. A reception follows in the parish hall.\nWe rejoice that so many couples are living in fidelity to their marital commitment. We thank them for proclaiming in their daily lives the beauty\, goodness\, and truth of marriage. In countless ways — both ordinary and heroic — through good times and bad\, they bear witness to the gift and blessing they have received from the hand of their creator (USCCB pastoral letter\, “Love and Life in the Divine Plan”).\nTo register for the World Marriage Day Mass\, please contact Nicole Hamilton at 802-658-6110\, ext. 1131 or nhamilton@vermontcatholic.org. Include the couple’s names (as they want them to be written on the certificate)\, anniversary date (month\, day\, year)\, and current parish. The deadline to register is Friday\, Jan. 24.

SUMMARY:Bible Study: Hebrews - The New & Eternal Covenant
DESCRIPTION:Do We Realize How Richly We’ve Been Blessed?\nEmbark on a guided tour of the “Holy of Holies” of biblical theology. The book of Hebrews is like a little Catechism. It is steeped in rich truths that are foundational to our Catholic Faith\, but its highly refined theological concepts can be difficult for even the most seasoned Bible scholars to unpack.\nPresented by Andrew Swafford and Jeff Cavins\, Hebrews: The New and Eternal Covenant draws out the riches of this sublime book in a way that makes them easier to understand. It draws connections between the Old and New Testaments\, the Liturgy\, the Eucharist\, the priesthood\, and so much more. Most importantly\, Hebrews will help Catholics appreciate the astounding generosity of God as they see the wonders he has given us in the Church\nClasses will meet weekly for discussion and to review the videos provided by Ascension Press. SUMMARY:Discussion on the Papal Encyclical\, Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us)
DESCRIPTION:In his fourth encyclical\, Dilexit Nos (He loved us)\, Pope Francis invites us to reflect on aspects of the Lord’s love that resonate meaningfully with “a world that seems to have lost its heart.” The Holy Father calls for a change of perspective\, urging humanity to rediscover what is most essential: the heart. \nLouise Boisvert will lead a discussion of this encyclical\, which includes reflections from Sacred Scripture and previous magisterial teachings\, reintroduces the Church to the spiritually profound devotion to the Sacred Heart. \n“What characterizes our group\,” Louise says\, “is the simplicity and depth of our exchanges\, combined with fraternal life and a good cup of coffee! SUMMARY:Catechism in a Year(ish)
DESCRIPTION:Using the podcasts from Fr. Mike Schmitz\, we will (slowly) read through the Catechism of the Catholic Church. For those who would prefer to move at a slower pace and discuss the material in a small group\, we will review two (or so) episodes together each week.\nThe Catechism of the Catholic Church details the doctrine\, dogma\, and the basic tenets of the Church. Using the tradition of explaining what the Church believes\, what she celebrates\, what she lives and what she prays\, the Catechism of the Catholic Church offers challenges for believers and answers for all those interested in learning about the mystery of the Catholic faith.\nIn reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church we can perceive the wonderful unity of the mystery of God… — Pope St. John Paul I\nBeginning the week of September 10th\, come to the “Year(ish)” discussion group\, where we will listen together to one or two of the Catechism in A Year podcast\, and then take time to discuss the material together! Our goal is to understand and love more deeply the Church\, and the founder of our Church\, Jesus!\nOur Lady of the Angels: Mondays 6:00 -7:00 pm\nSt. John the Evangelist: Thursdays 9:45 – 10:45 am\nThere is no cost for this discussion group\, but it is recommended that you acquire a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church for your own use.

Preregistration is required.
