DESCRIPTION:This training for local churches will focus on how to set up and use the Committee on Nominations and Leadership.  Many church leaders consider this to be the most important committee of the local church as it is tasked with identifying and deploying people to serve in the church’s various leadership roles. As such\, its members need to be attuned to the gifts and abilities of local church members\, as well as the gifts and abilities necessary to serve on committees such as the SPRC\, Trustees\, etc.  This workshop will outline a process for Committees on Nominations and Leadership to follow throughout the year so that they can do this important work. SUMMARY:Early Response Team Training
DESCRIPTION:Being prepared to respond to the next disaster is one way to live out our call to love our neighbor.  The objective of Early Response Team (ERT) training is to equip United Methodist volunteers with the skills necessary to perform altruistic acts during disaster response and recovery while ensuring that no harm is inflicted. Our ERT program encompasses the essential components of initial disaster response including roof tarping\, clearing out damaged residences\, providing spiritual and emotional support\, and following team protocols. Individuals and teams responding in the immediate aftermath of a disaster may be required to possess proper credentials. Participants who successfully complete this training will receive these credentials\, including an Early Response Team (ERT) badge. The training sessions are open to all individuals aged 18 and older. Each participant will be subject to a background check conducted by UMCOR and must also complete Safer Sanctuary training. DESCRIPTION:Please click on the link to register for the Green Mountain District Conference scheduled for Thursday\, February 20\, 2025 at 6:30 pm.  Once you register\, you will receive a confirmation email with the meeting link.   Meeting Agenda:  Review and vote on the equalization members for the Annual Conference in June.   More on Equalization Members An equalization member is a member of a local church who attends Annual Conference in addition to the lay person who is attending on behalf of the local church.  The equalization member should be nominated at either the local church conference or at an Administrative Council meeting before February 15\, 2025.  Youth and young adults are especially encouraged to become equalization members. More here  Those whose names have been included as equalization member nominees on the 2025 Church Leaders Contact Report in the Church Dashboard will be presented for consideration at the District Conference.
