SUMMARY:Bible Study: Hebrews - The New & Eternal Covenant
DESCRIPTION:Do We Realize How Richly We’ve Been Blessed?\nEmbark on a guided tour of the “Holy of Holies” of biblical theology. The book of Hebrews is like a little Catechism. It is steeped in rich truths that are foundational to our Catholic Faith\, but its highly refined theological concepts can be difficult for even the most seasoned Bible scholars to unpack.\nPresented by Andrew Swafford and Jeff Cavins\, Hebrews: The New and Eternal Covenant draws out the riches of this sublime book in a way that makes them easier to understand. It draws connections between the Old and New Testaments\, the Liturgy\, the Eucharist\, the priesthood\, and so much more. Most importantly\, Hebrews will help Catholics appreciate the astounding generosity of God as they see the wonders he has given us in the Church\nClasses will meet weekly for discussion and to review the videos provided by Ascension Press. Preregistration is required.\nSt. Anthony\, Bethel:  3:00 pm  – 4:30 pm on Tuesdays\, February 18 to April 8\nSt. John the Evangelist\, Northfield: 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm on Wednesdays\, February 19 to April 9\nOur Lady of the Angels\, Randolph\, 9:45 am – 11:15 am on Fridays\, February 21 – April 11

SUMMARY:Catechism in a Year(ish)
DESCRIPTION:Using the podcasts from Fr. Mike Schmitz\, we will (slowly) read through the Catechism of the Catholic Church. For those who would prefer to move at a slower pace and discuss the material in a small group\, we will review two (or so) episodes together each week.\nThe Catechism of the Catholic Church details the doctrine\, dogma\, and the basic tenets of the Church. Using the tradition of explaining what the Church believes\, what she celebrates\, what she lives and what she prays\, the Catechism of the Catholic Church offers challenges for believers and answers for all those interested in learning about the mystery of the Catholic faith.\nIn reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church we can perceive the wonderful unity of the mystery of God… — Pope St. John Paul I\nBeginning the week of September 10th\, come to the “Year(ish)” discussion group\, where we will listen together to one or two of the Catechism in A Year podcast\, and then take time to discuss the material together! Our goal is to understand and love more deeply the Church\, and the founder of our Church\, Jesus!\nOur Lady of the Angels: Mondays 6:00 -7:00 pm\nSt. John the Evangelist: Thursdays 9:45 – 10:45 am\nThere is no cost for this discussion group\, but it is recommended that you acquire a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church for your own use.

SUMMARY:Love of Children Partner Event - The Meaningful Inclusion of Children in Worship: Theology and Practice
DESCRIPTION:Corporate worship is the work and the joy of the people of God\, and when the body of Christ gathers\, we are incomplete without the active presence and meaningful participation of children and youth. What can this engagement look like (feel like\, sound like\, smell like\, taste like) in liturgy\, and why does it matter to the formation of people of all ages? Canon Wendy Claire Barrie will lead this webinar exploring the theological whys and practical hows of incorporating children and youth into congregational worship.

Preregistration is required.

SUMMARY:Burlington Baroque – Lenten Meditations: BACH & HIS PREDECESSORS
DESCRIPTION:This program\, performed by the distinguished vocal soloists and instrumentalists of L’Harmonie des saisons and the Burlington Baroque Festival Singers\, directed by Eric Milnes\, features music written for the season of Lent by Johann Sebastian Bach\, Dietrich Buxtehude\, and Johann Christoph Bach. J.S. Bach is considered one of the greatest composers of all time\, his monumental position among European composers of the 18th century influencing all composers to follow. Alongside Handel and Vivaldi his works represent the pinnacle of Baroque Music to audiences even 300 years later. And yet\, Bach did not emerge monolithically from a musical vacuum without forebears and influences. We see from an early work like his Cantata #4 (written when he was 22 years old) the direct impact composers before him had on his style and expressionism. Buxtehude was a composer and mentor that Bach walked hundreds of miles to study with. J.C. Bach was an elder cousin among many distinguished related composers and church musicians in the region. The young Bach had numerous works of Buxtehude and J. C. Bach in his library\, painstakingly copied out by hand in order to fully understand and synthesize their work. In presenting this program Burlington Baroque offers listeners the rare opportunity to hear extraordinary sacred music from late 17th century Germany and to gain a greater appreciation for how a genius like Bach could emerge from his cultural heritage and attain the extraordinary acclaim the world would accord him.\nFor more information\, visit burlingtonbaroque.org.\nAll Select\, Premier\, and General Seating Tickets for purchase are located on the Orchestra Level.\nVENUE INFORMATION\nCathedral Church of St. Paul\n2 Cherry Street\nBurlington\, VT 05401
