Les Chanteurs de Lorraine, a choral group from Quebec, presents their spring choral concert “Et si on chantait” at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph. This emotional concert will be a celebration of renewal and human warmth, punctuated by hymns of praise, peace and hope that will touch hearts and lift souls – a beautiful variety of works from various continents and eras, in five languages, created by renowned composers.
Selections include A Gaelic Blessing (Rutter); Baba Yetu (Tin); Barcarolle (Offenbach; arr. Reddi); For the Beauty of the Earth (Rutter); Hymne au printemps (Leclerc); In Paradisum (Faure); Je voudrais voir la mer (Rivard); Kyrie, Messe solennelle (Rossini); Quand les hommes vivront d’amour (Levesque); We lieblich sind deine wohnungen, Requiem IV (Brahms), Sanctus, Requiem (Rutter), Sanctus & Benedictus, St. Cecilia Mass (Gounod); Si on chantait ensemble (Lapointe & Lefebvre); Te Deum (Dvorak); Laudamus Te, Gloria (Jenkins); The Seal Lullaby (Whitacre); We Rise Again (Dublinsy, arr. Smith); You’ll Never Walk Alone, Carousel (Rodgers & Hammerstein, arr. Mann). Directed by Sandra Penner, the choir will be accompanied by pianist Ariane Benoit Bastien and some instrumentalists.
Free admission to the concert; a free-will offering will be taken to support the work of Joseph’s House, a ministry of the Cathedral serving those in need in the Burlington area.
